Ameztoi, Rubentis 2023

The Ameztoi family have been making Txakoli wine since 1820, and are now into their 5th generation of familial ownership. Their vineyards sit in true Basque Country on Spain's northern coast, a stone's throw away from San Sebastian. The Ameztoi family is widely known as the "Criquets" (crickets), a local symbol of joy, happiness and pride. Rubentis 2023 is a stunning Txakoli rosado made from a blend of the red Hondarrabi Beltza and white Hondarrabi Zuri. An inviting pale pink in colour, a little carbon dioxide was added at bottling so the wine has a gentle spritziness. A nose of strawberry, raspberry and watermelon is backed up by a wonderfully vibrant palate and light body. Such a great summer rosé and one which pairs really well with shellfish, or just enjoyed as an aperitif.
